On 1 May 2021, Jeroen Huuskes started as the new Commercial Director of Faes. He takes over from Ben Hamers, who is retiring. Because of Jeroen’s years of experience in commercial positions with a primary focus on the industry, he can rightfully be called an asset to Faes. In this article Jeroen introduces himself.
It started in the Industrial Power Tools
Ever since I was young, I have had the ambition to work in commerce. The role I had in mind after finishing my education was commercial field service. I do believe, however, that in order to be successful in this, it is absolutely necessary to get to know and understand the internal organisational structure, activities and associated processes. I started as customer service manager at the leading A-brand Makita Industrial Power Tools.
Switch to Tyrolit, part of Swarovski Group
Soon the opportunity arose to make the switch to a commercial field service position at Tyrolit, part of the Swarovski Group in Austria. Tyrolit is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of grinding technologies for the construction industry. I started as Key Account Manager for the trading division, responsible for the professional distribution channel.
15 years of Newell Rubbermaid
I had been in the distribution business for two years when I was approached to make the move to publicly traded Newell Rubbermaid. At the time, they had purchased a tool division, American Tool Companies. This company consisted of 40 A-brands for the professional end-user. Newell Rubbermaid rebranded this into one brand for the professional business; Irwin Industrial Tools, which was later sold to Stanley Black & Decker. In 2009, I became commercially responsible for Rubbermaid Commercial Products, known for cleaning and waste management solutions. For this, I optimised distribution networks in the Benelux market. Later, the Tools and Dymo Industrial Labelling business were added. Eventually, I managed four different divisions, all in the field of distribution, under the direction of the European headquarters in Switzerland.
The expertise I have built up both in Europe and worldwide through the processes I have implemented will certainly be useful at Faes.Jeroen Huuskes | Commercial Director Faes
From construction & industry to livestock
About four years ago, I was approached to come and set up a company in the agricultural sector. The family business MS Schippers, supplier in this sector, has production companies within the group that produce, among other things, hygiene solutions such as cleaning and disinfection fluids for the livestock industry. For this I was ultimately responsible for setting up a worldwide distribution network with a strong focus on Asia, given the scale of this market.
And then there was Faes
I had been following Faes for a while because I find it a pioneering company, especially for the High Tech industry it has a prominent position. In terms of location it is well situated in the Brainport area. Especially since Faes wants to become the authority in the field of industrial packaging. Especially Johan (Faes, ed.) has inspired me to make the switch, his entrepreneurial spirit and seeing opportunities really appealed to me. Here I can contribute my expertise and experience to let the company grow in line with the vision and strategy of Faes. The atmosphere at Faes is also very good: a pleasant culture, short lines of communication and quick responses, which give me energy. The professional approach and the high level of quality we want to deliver to our customers is clearly visible and tangible throughout the company. I therefore see many opportunities and with the ambitious growth Johan has in mind, I would like to facilitate this and be part of it. I am looking forward to realising these ambitions with the team, because we have to do this together!
