The benefits of our StackAssist® Multi Stage module

Suppose you regularly ship orders with a large mix of products. It is very difficult to estimate the volume, weight and load meters of all pallets together. In practice, estimates are often made. The more complex your load, the greater the chance of errors. This will cause you to book too many load meters or even worse; to have to arrange a carrier last minute if things are disappointing.

With the Multi Stage module of StackAssist® you calculate in one go which boxes have to go on which pallet and how they best fit in the trailer(s). Because you can do this calculation immediately after placing the order, you book the exact number of pallet spaces required in one go. No surprises afterwards!

Different scenarios

An example of what we often see in practice is that both full and half pallets are picked. Which ones you can put on top of each other is usually not known in advance. To be sure, it is therefore assumed that this is not possible. Understandable, but at the same time this does not make optimal use of the loading capacity. With StackAssist® you can calculate this in advance, so you can estimate the required loading space in advance and make much better use of it.

Another example where the Multi Stage module comes in handy

There are also other situations where the module is really a godsend. One of our customers ships large products and loose parts for assembly such as screws and bolts. The boxes of loose parts are picked neatly into one outer box. This is then fitted in with the large parts on one of the pallets. This way, nothing is forgotten and no loose parts wander through the load.”

In practice

There are quite a few tools on the market that in practice simply don’t connect well enough to complex practical situations. You can set everything up per order, but if setting up takes a lot of time, it defeats its purpose. The main challenge in developing the StackAssist Multi Stage module was therefore to translate it into a solution that is workable in practice. According to our customers, we more than succeeded in this.

In the basic version of StackAssist, it is possible to stack products in packaging. Here only one level of packaging can be selected, either a box or a pallet or a container. The end result is a number of packages with respective volume, dimensions and weights.

With the Multi Stage module, it is possible to package at multiple levels.

  • At stage 1, products are packed in a box.
  • At stage 2, the boxes are then stacked on a pallet.
  • At stage 3, pallets are stacked in a container.
