Our StackAssist tool has gained a module. StackAssist is a Faes application that supports the efficient planning and execution of order picking, stacking and loading. StackAssist also takes into account transport requirements in the broadest sense of the word. The system provides clear and reliable instructions for the shop floor, making corrections and manual adjustments a thing of the past. As a packaging specialist, Faes is continuously building improvements in the process. Project manager Bart van Dijck is happy to explain this new module in detail!
Optimal filling of a full pallet thanks to translation module
The StackAssist application has recently been enriched by a new module: the translation module. A module that makes it possible to make an optimal packaging translation. A very interesting module for companies with large warehouses. Thanks to the translation module, StackAssist makes it possible to optimally fill a full pallet. Think of the optimal filling of the layers per pallet, but also the fitting and measuring of separate SKUs (Stock Keeping Units) becomes child’s play thanks to this tool!
Making the most of one pallet
Thanks to the translation module, StackAssist makes it possible to make optimal use of a single pallet. The translation module translates order quantities into full pallets and full layers of a product. In many practical cases, an incoming pallet with 1 product is 1.50 metres high, but the customer requests a mixed pallet that can be stacked up to 2.20 metres high. It is therefore inevitable that there will be empty space which leads to unstable stacking and which can often also be filled more efficiently. An experienced picker will dare to take on this challenge, as long as the pallet consists of full layers per product. But without full layers per product, this puzzle becomes a lot more difficult. A stable stack must be created, in which stacking through is also possible. Even during busy times, when a company is looking for reinforcement in flexible workers, for example, this process must run optimally and unambiguously.
Prevent puzzling
In order to avoid wasted time puzzling, but also to have the same working method across the board, the new StackAssist module maps all SKUs in the most optimal way. Not only does the translation module put the products in the optimum order, it also automatically fills in the full layers first and then the individual SKUs follow. That is information which the order picker normally does not have access to.
Customer specific
The module has been set up in such a way that each company can also publish its own information. What kind of products are involved? How much can and should be put on a pallet? All questions that are different for each company. Thanks to this translation module, the customer can set up a customised module entirely according to his own wishes. Of course, we help during the set-up of this process, often in the form of a training. After which the customer can maintain the tool entirely independently.
In short, the new module guarantees:
- Flexible working with full pallets
- Automatic recognition
- Stable assembly from a full pallet
- Also taking into account the SKUs
